Omika Mohammed, the Zonal Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi East Senatorial District, has passed away at the age of 45. Mohammed, who succeeded Nasir Agbodu as the Zonal Chairman only a few months ago, died under mysterious circumstances.
The news of his death was confirmed by Abdullahi Bello, the State Chairman of APC, via a phone call. Bello stated that he was informed of the tragic incident by Kogi State’s Deputy Governor, Joel Oyibo, who was in Lagos to console the Lagos APC Chairman following the loss of his wife.
Family members revealed that Mohammed was resting in his compound in Lokoja when he suddenly began yelling for help, claiming he was losing strength, before collapsing and passing away on the spot.
Kogi State Deputy Governor, Joel Salifu, expressed deep shock over the untimely death of Mohammed in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Unubi Emmanuel. Salifu described the late APC leader as a dedicated gentleman who had made significant contributions to the growth and success of the APC in the region, adding that his absence would be profoundly felt within the party.
The Deputy Governor prayed for the repose of Mohammed’s soul and offered condolences to his family, urging them to find strength in their grief.
Omika Mohammed, born on October 1, 1980, in Oduh Ogboyaga, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, was buried according to Islamic rites. He is survived by his wife and six children.
