The Lagos State Government has extended warm congratulations to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, ahead of his 50th birthday, describing the milestone as a celebration of cultural continuity and visionary leadership.

During a courtesy visit on Tuesday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, conveyed the goodwill of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, emphasizing the shared heritage between Lagos and Oyo States.

“This visit is to honour Kabiyesi and deepen cultural ties between our people,” Aregbe said, praising the monarch’s role as a custodian of Yoruba history.

He reaffirmed Lagos State’s commitment to promoting cultural partnerships, tourism, and the creative economy, while acknowledging the vital role of traditional rulers in national development.

Aregbe described the Alaafin as a “wellspring of wisdom” and noted that the engagement underscores efforts to foster inter-state unity through culture.
