Globacom has renewed its sponsorship of the 2026 Ofala Festival in Onitsha, Anambra State, extending its partnership with the cultural event to more than 15 years.
The 2026 edition marks the 25th Ofala Festival of the reign of the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, and is themed “Igba Mbo, Iga N’Iru – Strive and Advance: From Resilience to Progress.”
Globacom said its continued support reflects its commitment to preserving Nigeria’s cultural heritage and promoting traditions that strengthen community identity and social development.
“For Globacom, Ofala is more than an annual cultural celebration. It is a living expression of identity, continuity and collective aspiration,” the company said.
The telecommunications company said the partnership also aligns with its “Never Settle for Less” philosophy, which it described as encouraging Nigerians to respect their cultural foundations while pursuing progress and greater opportunities.
The festival has evolved from a traditional royal rite of renewal into a broader platform for cultural expression, community engagement and social development.
Activities lined up for the 2026 edition include the Obi’s period of seclusion and ceremonial emergence, Medical, Health and Wellbeing Community Outreach, the international Oreze Art Exhibition, Youth Carnival, and the grand finale of Iru Ofala and Azu Ofala.
Globacom said its support goes beyond conventional sponsorship, describing the partnership as part of its corporate citizenship and commitment to cultural preservation.
The company added that the festival’s blend of tradition and modernity reflects its own focus on innovation, connectivity and digital inclusion.
