The Ogun State Government has told former governor and current senator Gbenga Daniel to comply with urban planning regulations amid a dispute over alleged plans to demolish his Sagamu residence and Conference Hotel.
Daniel claims the move is politically motivated and violates due process, noting the properties predate the 2022 planning law invoked by authorities.
Governor Dapo Abiodun’s spokesman, Kayode Akinmade, denied any political agenda, saying Daniel’s buildings were among many served notices during an audit of developments in Sagamu and Ijebu-Ode GRAs under an urban renewal programme.
Akinmade accused Daniel of resorting to “cheap blackmail” instead of presenting required permits and land titles for verification, stressing that “no one is above the law.”
