Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has reiterated its warning to truck operators against the unauthorized use of its logo on vehicles not affiliated with the company, describing the practice as damaging to its brand reputation.
In a statement, the company said despite repeated cautions, some truckers continue to display its logo without approval, with several of such vehicles implicated in incidents wrongly linked to Dangote.
“We have repeatedly cautioned truckers to refrain from using our logo on unauthorized vehicles. Moving forward, we will increase vigilance and take decisive legal action against misuse of our brand identity, particularly concerning vehicles unaffiliated with the Dangote Group,” the company stated.
Dangote disclosed that it is working closely with law enforcement and security agencies to monitor and curb the trend, pledging to prosecute offenders.
The company also expressed concern over the spread of misinformation, particularly the wrongful attribution of road accidents to its fleet. It urged the public and media to verify information before dissemination and cautioned against individuals exploiting tragedies for malicious or financial purposes.
Dangote operates one of the largest commercial fleets in Africa, with over 12,000 trucks in Nigeria, including 3,000 managed by third-party contractors. More than 6,000 vehicles are deployed daily, supporting the group’s logistics operations and generating over 36,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The company added that it maintains close collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other regulatory bodies to strengthen monitoring, safety training, and compliance across its operations, supported by regular internal audits and global best practices.
