The death of Pastor Ifeoluwa Akindayomi, the late son of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) founder, Pa Josiah Akindayomi, who passed away recently at the age of 63.
Family sources revealed that the cleric was only days away from relocating abroad to join his wife and children in Canada when he died unexpectedly.
According to insiders, Pastor Ifeoluwa’s family had long encouraged him to leave Nigeria, but he consistently chose to remain in the country to oversee his ministry and manage his successful printing business.
“When it became clear that his wife and children would not be returning to Nigeria, he finally decided to join them,” a source disclosed. “He had just secured permanent residency in Canada and was preparing to travel before the tragic incident.”
His death has continued to elicit shock and grief among friends, relatives, and church members, many of whom described him as a humble and self-effacing man who deliberately stayed out of the limelight despite being the last son of RCCG’s revered founder.
One of his close friends and fellow pastor, Debo Akinyemi, described the deceased as “a quiet, gentle soul who lived a life of humility and service.”
“He lived a simple life and never sought attention,” Akinyemi said. “He was content with his business and service in God’s vineyard. He was humble, kind-hearted, and deeply loved by everyone who knew him.”
Akinyemi, who said their friendship began at Molusi College in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State, added that Pastor Ifeoluwa exemplified calmness and grace throughout his life.
“He was a perfect gentleman who spoke with care and treated people with respect,” he said. “He never fought for recognition or position in the church. He truly loved God and served faithfully. His death is a huge loss.”
The passing of Pastor Ifeoluwa Akindayomi has left the RCCG community and his family deeply devastated, particularly as he was looking forward to reuniting with his loved ones abroad after years of separation.
