Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to responsible fiscal management, emphasizing prudent use of the state’s resources as a cornerstone of development.
The governor made the declaration while presenting the 2026 budget, “Changing Gears 3.0: Solution Continues,” totalling ₦757.88 billion to the Anambra State House of Assembly. This marks an increase from the 2025 budget of ₦606.99 billion, with a clear focus on accelerating development and deepening the state’s transformation.
Highlighting the administration’s achievement in executing projects without borrowing, Governor Soludo said financing revenue-generating initiatives remains central to strengthening Anambra’s economy. He acknowledged that funding the budget is a persistent challenge but reiterated the government’s guiding principle of “doing more with less.”
“It is no accident that Anambra has been ranked No. 1 in fiscal transparency, and more recently, the leading state in fiscal sustainability. We have cut the cost of governance to the bare bones, prioritizing value over volume. The unprecedented ratio of 21 percent recurrent to 79 percent capital expenditure speaks volumes. We are investing in tomorrow, not consuming today,” he said.
Governor Soludo also announced plans to launch a technology-driven renewal of the state’s internally generated revenue system, aimed at blocking leakages, widening the tax net, supporting compliant taxpayers, and enforcing regulations where necessary.
“We will continue to deepen strategic partnerships with the Federal Government, the international community, the private sector, our productive local governments, and vibrant communities. Many stakeholders, in the true Anambra spirit, are investing heavily in their communities, complementing government efforts in unprecedented ways,” he said.
The governor added that counterpart funding has been set aside in the 2026 budget to unlock more opportunities, grants, and collaborative projects for the state.
Looking ahead, Governor Soludo said the 2026 budget will consolidate foundations laid in his first tenure while launching new legacy projects that will shape Anambra’s future. These initiatives will span the five pillars of the Solution Agenda: Security, Law and Order; Infrastructure and Economic Transformation; and Human Capital Development.
