APO Group, the award-winning pan-African communications consultancy and press release distribution service, has appointed Nicholas Cull as Head of Human Resources for its volunteer programme supporting the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM), the governing body of the Roman Catholic Church in Africa.
Cull joins the programme on a volunteer basis, bringing extensive corporate HR experience from multinational companies including McAfee, GoPro, and Allianz. His appointment comes as APO Group expands its support for SECAM’s operations across the continent.
In his new role, Cull will oversee HR functions for the volunteer programme, focusing on recruitment, retention, volunteer satisfaction, and scalable HR processes across international operations.

The Catholic Church in Africa manages 82,235 schools educating over 30 million pupils and operates 13,880 healthcare and social care facilities, including hospitals, clinics, orphanages, and centres for the disabled. With Africa’s 236 million Catholics representing 20% of the global Catholic population and the fastest-growing region worldwide, the volunteer programme plays a crucial role in supporting SECAM’s mission.
Globally, volunteerism involves over 860 million people, providing opportunities for skills development, professional growth, and impactful service. Cull’s appointment is expected to strengthen APO Group’s volunteer programme and further enhance its support for the Church’s work across Africa.
