Hassan Allam Construction Secures $250 Million Contract for Afreximbank African Trade Centre in Egypt’s New Capital
Hassan Allam Construction, a subsidiary of Hassan Allam Holding, has been awarded a landmark USD 250 million contract to build the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) African Trade Centre (AATC), which will also serve as Afreximbank’s new headquarters in Egypt’s New Capital.
The stone-laying ceremony was attended by top dignitaries, including Egypt’s Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Afreximbank President and Chairman Dr. George Elombi, Central Bank Governor H.E. Hassan Abdalla, Hassan Allam Holding CEO Eng. Hassan Allam, and Eng. Mohamed El Dahshoury, CEO of Hassan Allam Construction.
The project encompasses the full construction and finishing of a comprehensive development, including the main headquarters building, a 110-room hotel, six serviced residential villas, a trade information centre, a knowledge hub, an innovation and SME incubation centre, a corporate museum, a 750-seat conference centre, exhibition facilities, retail and dining outlets, and a 1,200-bay parking structure. The contract also covers Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, landscaping, and full supply and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E). The development is designed as a sustainable, green facility.
Hassan Allam, CEO of Hassan Allam Holding, said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to using infrastructure to unlock Africa’s economic potential. “We are proud to bring our experience to a project of continental significance that will catalyse trade collaboration and opportunity across Africa,” he said.
Dr. George Elombi highlighted the centre’s role in addressing the long-standing challenge of limited trade and investment information for African businesses. “The AATC will not only accommodate the Bank’s expansion but also enhance intra-African trade and investment. The project is expected to create around 8,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction and approximately 1,000 jobs during its operational phase,” he said, adding that the project is scheduled for completion within 36 months.
The partnership between Hassan Allam Construction and Afreximbank exemplifies a broader vision for sustainable infrastructure development and economic transformation in Africa, with both institutions committed to advancing high-impact projects across the continent.
Other dignitaries at the ceremony included Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation H.E. Rania Al-Mashat, Amr Allam, Co-CEO of Hassan Allam Holding, and members of Afreximbank’s executive leadership team.
