Chelsea have appointed former Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior as their new head coach, the Premier League club announced on Tuesday.
Rosenior, 41, succeeds Enzo Maresca and has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2032. In a statement released by the club, the Englishman said he was “extremely humbled and honoured” to take on the role.
“This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies,” Rosenior said. “My job is to protect that identity and create a team that reflects these values in every game we play as we continue winning trophies.”
Speaking earlier on Tuesday in Strasbourg, Rosenior described the Chelsea role as “an opportunity I cannot turn down.”
The former Hull City defender joins Chelsea with the club currently sitting fifth in the Premier League table, as they continue their push for a return to the top tier of English and European football.
