Sophia Mbakwe, Executive Vice President, Business Services at NNPC Limited, has highlighted the growing influence of women in Nigeria’s energy sector.
She spoke while delivering the welcome address at the PENGASSAN Women Annual Convention 2026 held in Abuja.
Mbakwe commended women for their significant contributions to the industry’s development, noting that their roles have been instrumental in driving growth and shaping the sector over the years.
The convention, organised by Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria under the theme “The Dynamic Woman,” convened female professionals across the energy value chain to explore issues of inclusion, career advancement, and the future of women in Nigeria’s energy landscape.
