Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated former Inspector-General of Police, Musiliu Smith, on his 80th birthday, describing him as a distinguished statesman and a symbol of dedicated public service.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, the governor praised Smith’s contributions to national security during his tenure as Nigeria’s police chief.
Sanwo-Olu said the retired IGP demonstrated professionalism, competence, and commitment while in office, leaving behind a strong legacy within the police force.
He further described Smith as a patriotic Nigerian who has lived an impactful life, noting that his service to the nation remains worthy of recognition as he marks the milestone age.
The governor also offered prayers for continued good health and longevity for the octogenarian, expressing hope that he would continue to contribute to the development of Lagos State and Nigeria.
