Future: Tinubu Votes in APC Primary in Lagos with Wife Oluremi Tinubu

By Ayomide Otitoju

President Bola Tinubu on Saturday joined members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the party’s presidential direct primary held across the country, casting his vote at his ward in Ikoyi, Lagos State alongside his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

Speaking after the exercise, Tinubu said democracy is sustained by active participation of citizens and strong party structures rather than “noise, speculation, or borrowed platforms.”

“Today, I participated in the APC Presidential Direct Primary at my ward in Ikoyi, Lagos, alongside my dear wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON,” he wrote on his X handle.

He added that the APC remained “focused, organised and deeply grounded across Nigeria,” stressing that the party was committed to nation-building and democratic consolidation.

“Others may gather around grievance. We gather around structure, service, and the work of nation-building. Together, we will continue to renew hope, strengthen our democracy, and build a stronger Nigeria for all,” he said.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who also participated in the exercise, voted at Ward E3, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island, and later joined the president at his polling unit.

Sanwo-Olu commended Tinubu’s leadership, saying his reforms were aimed at strengthening governance, stabilising the polity, and improving the economy, while expressing optimism about the country’s future.

Across the country, other APC leaders also participated in the direct primaries, with some governors projecting strong support for the president ahead of future elections.

In Edo State, Governor Monday Okpebholo said the state was targeting 2.5 million votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, citing strong turnout at the party’s ward-level primary as evidence of growing support.

Similarly, former Zamfara State Governor and Senator, Abdulaziz Yari, urged Nigerians to continue supporting Tinubu’s administration, particularly in efforts to tackle insecurity in the North-West.

The APC presidential direct primary was conducted simultaneously across wards nationwide, with party members participating in the selection process as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
