Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the January 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, the Lagos governor described Tinubu’s victory at the party primaries as well deserved and reflective of the confidence reposed in his leadership by party members nationwide.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu also commended members and executives of the All Progressives Congress for the peaceful conduct of the primaries, praising the National Working Committee and state party structures for organising what he described as credible and orderly elections.
“I congratulate our leader and President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the APC for the 2027 election,” the governor said.
According to him, Tinubu’s emergence demonstrates the continued trust and confidence party members have in his leadership and vision for the country.
Sanwo-Olu added that the adoption of direct primaries by the ruling party underscored its commitment to strengthening internal democracy by allowing members to play a more active role in the candidate selection process.
The governor also praised the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly its economic reforms, which he said were aimed at stabilising the economy and laying the foundation for sustainable growth.
He noted that leadership often requires courage and difficult decisions capable of moving the country forward, expressing confidence that Nigerians would continue to support what he described as a vision anchored on progress and national development.
