FirstBank has launched a nationwide Pensioners Roadshow to raise awareness among eligible legacy pensioners about the bank’s approved Pension Settlement Framework.
The roadshow, which will run from August 18 to September 3, 2026, is aimed at providing pensioners with information about the framework and addressing concerns surrounding its implementation.
The Pension Settlement Framework is a one-off settlement initiative designed to provide a final and sustainable resolution to longstanding pension-related matters involving eligible former employees who retired under the defined benefit scheme.
The framework was developed in partnership with the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) under the guidance of the National Pension Commission (PenCom).
The nationwide engagement will take place in six locations ,Lagos, Ibadan, Benin, Enugu, Abuja and Kaduna. The sessions will give pensioners direct access to information, clarify the benefits of the framework and provide an opportunity to engage with FirstBank representatives and other relevant stakeholders.
Olumuyiwa Olulaja, Group Head, Human Capital Management and Development, FirstBank Group, said the initiative reflected the bank’s appreciation for the contributions of its pensioners to the institution’s growth.
“We value the immense contributions made by our pensioners to the growth and success of the institution over the years,” Olulaja said.
He said the approved framework demonstrated FirstBank’s commitment to constructive engagement and resolving longstanding pension-related issues in a fair and transparent manner.
According to the bank, the roadshow further underscores its commitment to stakeholder engagement, transparency and sustainable relationships with all categories of stakeholders, including former employees who contributed to its 132-year legacy.
FirstBank urged pensioners and other relevant stakeholders in the designated locations to participate in the sensitisation sessions and use the opportunity to engage directly with the bank and other parties involved in the framework.
The bank also reaffirmed its commitment to employee development through initiatives focused on continuous learning, talent and leadership development, career mobility and succession planning.
These initiatives include FirstAcademy, the bank’s corporate learning and development platform, as well as leadership development programmes, its Graduate Training Programme and Technology Academy.
