Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, joined businessman Aliko Dangote in New York’s Times Square on Tuesday as the campaign for the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Initial Public Offering (IPO) continued to attract international attention.
Davido and Dangote were seen beneath a large Nasdaq digital billboard displaying the message, “Made in Nigeria. Built for the World.”
In a video shared online, the singer and billionaire businessman gestured towards the billboard, waved and gave thumbs-up signs as people gathered around them.
The appearance came amid the ongoing public offer of shares in the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
Speaking during the encounter, Dangote said broader ownership of the refinery would help spread wealth and economic opportunities across Africa.
“It is very important, David, because that’s the only way to spread prosperity and wealth throughout Africa,” Dangote said.
He added that the group planned to pursue similar ownership opportunities for its fertiliser business, saying the initiative would enable more Africans to acquire stakes in its businesses.
Davido has previously spoken about his longstanding relationship with Dangote, describing the businessman as a family friend who has known him since birth.
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO opened on September 14, 2026, following its launch at the Nigerian Exchange in Lagos.
The offer comprises 4.1 billion ordinary shares priced at ₦525 each, with a minimum subscription of 10 shares valued at ₦5,250.
If fully subscribed, the offer is expected to raise about ₦2.15 trillion.
The offer is open to Nigerian and eligible African retail and institutional investors and is scheduled to close on October 13, 2026.
Located in Lekki, Lagos, the Dangote refinery has a stated processing capacity of about 650,000 barrels per day and produces petroleum products including petrol, diesel, aviation fuel and liquefied petroleum gas.
Dangote Industries said proceeds from the share offer would support the refinery’s expansion plans.
