By Ayomide Otitoju

Airtel Nigeria has announced the appointment of Dinesh Balsingh as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2024.

The announcement was made in a statement on Tuesday by Femi Adeniran, the company’s Director of Corporate Communications and CSR.

Balsingh succeeds Carl Cruz, who stepped down at the end of October to return to the Philippines.

According to the statement, Balsingh brings extensive experience in the telecommunications industry. He returns to Nigeria after serving as Managing Director and CEO of Airtel Tanzania since 2022. Before his move to Tanzania, he was Airtel Nigeria’s Chief Commercial Officer, a role that provided him with in-depth knowledge of the Nigerian telecom market.

Balsingh first joined Airtel Nigeria in 2013 as Marketing Director, following previous leadership roles at Airtel India and Tata Docomo.

Commenting on the leadership transition, Airtel Africa CEO Sunil Taldar said:
“Balsingh’s deep telecommunications experience and strong operational execution, combined with his knowledge of the Nigerian market, will be instrumental in further supporting our corporate purpose of transforming lives across Nigeria.”

Balsingh holds a Master of Business Administration from Thiagarajar School of Management.
