Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State have called on Nigerians to embrace unity, compassion, and national reconciliation as Christians across the country mark Easter.
In a message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Senator Akpabio urged Nigerians to use the Easter celebration to set aside political, religious, and ethnic differences and promote peace and national cohesion.
“Let us emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ – humility, love, sacrifice – and reach out to those in need, especially victims of violence,” Akpabio said. He appealed to individuals involved in violence and killings to abandon their “evil ways” and respect the sanctity of human life.
The Senate President further encouraged Nigerians to continue praying for the nation and its leaders beyond the Easter season, adding that collective prayers and shared sacrifice could usher in a new era of hope and progress.
Similarly, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, in his Easter message, congratulated Christians and emphasized the significance of the season as a time for renewal and sacrifice. He called on citizens to emulate Christ’s example by fostering unity and selflessness in their communities.
“Just as Christ triumphed over death, we shall overcome the challenges confronting our state and country,” Governor Sani said. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, rural development, improved security, and empowerment of youth and women.
Sani also called on citizens to pray for his administration and for President Bola Tinubu, describing the president as the torchbearer of the “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
“Our government remains committed to building a harmonious and equitable Kaduna State where no one feels left behind,” he said. “Let this Easter be a moment of compassion, generosity, and shared resolve to build a better Nigeria.”
Governor Sani also encouraged faith-based groups and communities to support the vulnerable and displaced, urging them to embrace acts of charity in the true spirit of Easter.
