Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has cautioned Mrs. Unoma Akpabio, wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, against interfering in the allegations of sexual harassment and intimidation leveled against her husband.
Mrs. Akpabio had earlier dismissed the senator’s accusations as baseless, asserting that both families had maintained a cordial relationship for years before Akpoti-Uduaghan’s marriage.
However, in a letter dated March 1, 2025, Akpoti-Uduaghan, through her lawyer, Victor Giwa, advised Mrs. Akpabio to refrain from involving herself in the matter. The letter, titled “Stay Away from Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Sexual Harassment and Intimidation Allegation Against Sen. President Godswill Akpabio; To Safeguard Your Sanity and That of Your Family,” emphasized that the accusations were personal to the Senate President and should be left for him to address.
“Our client is not desirous of calling you out into the unfortunate saga concerning her allegations against the Senate President and wishes that you restrain yourself from delving into the obscene circumstances,” the letter stated.
The senator further claimed that while she had endured harassment from Akpabio for some time, she was now compelled to speak out about the “torture and victimization” she allegedly faced in the Senate under his leadership.
According to Akpoti-Uduaghan, she possesses “concrete evidence” to support her claims and urged Mrs. Akpabio to allow her husband to defend himself.
“We will suggest that you leave the defense of the allegations for the Senate President to maintain your sanity and that of your family,” the letter continued.
Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to defending Nigerian women, adding that, as a family woman, she remains dedicated to upholding shared values and advocating for justice.
