The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC), under Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has called for greater university autonomy in appointing vice chancellors while congratulating the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UniZik), Professor Ugochukwu Anyaehie, wishing him a successful tenure.
The announcement was made during the 23rd ANSEC meeting held on Monday, 17th November 2025, at the new government house, Light House, Awka. According to the State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, the Council also discussed plans to make the 2025 Christmas season vibrant, with a fiesta themed “Onwa Dezemba.”
Mefor explained that the festivities will take place at Solution Fun City, Awka, the renovated Ekwueme Square, and other recreational venues across the state, promising a mix of masquerade festivals, Christmas carols, musical concerts, and other activities featuring popular Nigerian musicians.
The Solution Fun City, described as a world-class entertainment and leisure complex, features a cinema, a waterpark with six swimming pools, family and children’s play zones, an arcade, and a country club, offering diverse activities for all ages.
Mefor emphasized that the facility aligns with Governor Soludo’s broader vision of transforming Anambra into a hub of recreation, culture, and economic activity. “This is a fun city like no other; there are no comparable facilities in the world,” the governor stated, adding that the project is the first phase of a plan to build the largest fun city globally in Anambra State.
The initiative is expected to stimulate the state’s economy, create jobs, and reinforce Governor Soludo’s commitment to positioning Anambra as a destination hub—dubbed the Dubai-Silicon Valley of Nigeria—where innovation, business, and leisure thrive.
