Customs CG Adewale Adeniyi Receives Times Heroes Award

By Ayomide Otitoju

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has received the prestigious Times Heroes Award in recognition of his contributions to public service and national development.

Adeniyi received the award at the THISDAY Dome in Abuja during the centenary celebration of the Daily Times newspaper. The event brought together prominent figures from government, business and traditional institutions to honour individuals and organisations contributing to Nigeria’s development.

Speaking after receiving the award, Adeniyi described the recognition as an inspiration to deepen his commitment to public service. He attributed the achievement to the collective efforts of officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), while commending compliant citizens for supporting improved standards in public service.

“It’s very good when you do something, and you are recognised; this should be an inspiration to us to do much better,” Adeniyi said.

He dedicated the award to NCS personnel for their dedication and sacrifices in protecting and serving the country.

Adeniyi said the Service under his leadership remains focused on increasing revenue generation, improving trade facilitation and accelerating the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.

He added that greater compliance by members of the public would strengthen the NCS’s ability to effectively deliver on its mandate.
