El-Rufai Corruption Case Adjourned to April 1, 2026

By Ayomide Otitoju

The hearing of an alleged corruption case filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) against former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has been adjourned to Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

El-Rufai appeared before the Federal High Court in Kaduna on Tuesday for proceedings in the matter.

During the hearing, defence counsel, Ukpon Akpan, filed a motion requesting that the presiding judge, Rilwan Aikawa, recuse himself from the case, citing alleged bias and a pending petition against him. However, the defence subsequently submitted another application seeking to withdraw the recusal request.

The court was unable to proceed with the bail hearing as scheduled, following the late submission of the prosecution’s counter-affidavit opposing the bail application.

Consequently, Justice Aikawa adjourned the case to Wednesday for the hearing of the bail application.

Meanwhile, a related case instituted by the ICPC against El-Rufai at the Kaduna State High Court has also been adjourned to April 10 for further proceedings.
