Adeleye Falade has officially taken over as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), assuming office on Wednesday at the company’s Corporate Head Office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The appointment follows the elevation of former NLNG MD and CEO, Philip Mshelbila, to Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), according to a statement signed by NLNG’s General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Sophia Horsfall.
Falade brings nearly 30 years of experience in the global oil and gas industry, with leadership roles spanning LNG and petroleum operations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Russia, and Africa. He previously served as Managing Director of Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad from April 2024, overseeing strategic operations for one of the world’s established LNG producers.
Prior to that, Falade held several senior roles at NLNG, including General Manager, Production (2019–2023) and Operations Manager (2015–2018), where he ensured plant reliability, operational performance, and safety across Bonny Island’s LNG facilities. He also led the deployment of global asset management systems at Shell in the Netherlands.
Falade holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from the University of Ibadan and an MBA from Henley Business School, University of Reading, UK. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), a registered member of COREN, and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
He assumes leadership at a critical time for NLNG, as the company nears completion of its Train 7 expansion project and strengthens feedgas supply through long-term agreements with six third-party suppliers. His appointment also reinforces NLNG’s commitment to indigenous leadership, joining a fully Nigerian management team poised to drive the company’s growth in the global LNG market.
