FirstBank has strongly refuted recent allegations of fraud linked to a lawsuit filed by Dr. Agbai Eke, emphasizing that the claims are baseless and misleading.
In a statement addressing a publication by ThisDay Newspaper, Arise Television, and a circulating video on the matter, the bank clarified that its internal findings point to unprofessional and unethical dealings between Dr. Eke and a former FirstBank employee. These transactions, the bank stated, were facilitated through a personal relationship and occurred without its knowledge or authorization.
“As the matter is currently before the Court, we will refrain from further comments to allow the Court to dispassionately determine the issues before it,” the statement read. It also confirmed that law enforcement agencies have been engaged for further investigations, with suspects already making useful statements.
Reiterating its commitment to transparency and accountability, FirstBank assured stakeholders that it upholds the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in all its operations.
