Two people have died in a road crash along the Ogbere/J4 corridor of the Sagamu–Ore Expressway in Ogun State, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed.
The accident occurred at about 5:10 a.m. on Thursday at Ogbere Junction, according to a statement by the Ogun State Sector Command Public Relations Officer, Afolabi Odunsi.
Odunsi said the crash involved a white Mack truck with registration number ABC660XC and an orange Peugeot J5 bus with no visible registration number.
A total of four adult male occupants were involved in the accident. Two died at the scene, while the other two escaped unhurt.
Preliminary investigations by the FRSC attributed the crash to route violation and excessive speeding.
The impact of the collision caused the Peugeot J5 bus to burst into flames, completely destroying its front section.
Odunsi said FRSC rescue personnel arrived at the scene within two minutes of receiving the distress call and immediately began traffic control operations, diverting vehicles to an alternative carriageway to ease congestion while clearing the wreckage.
The bodies of the deceased were evacuated by officers of the Nigeria Police Motor Traffic Division (MTD), Ogbere Division, and deposited in a mortuary.
Reacting to the incident, the Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, sympathised with the families of the victims and urged motorists to comply strictly with traffic regulations.
He warned drivers against speeding and route violations, particularly during poor visibility and on wet roads, stressing that reckless driving remains one of the leading causes of fatal road crashes in the country.
The FRSC reaffirmed its commitment to improving road safety through sustained enforcement, public education and prompt emergency response operations.
