JAMB Releases 2026 UTME Results for April 20 Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of candidates who sat for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on April 20.

JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, announced the development in a post on his X handle on Tuesday, noting that candidates can now access their results through the standard procedure.

He advised candidates to send “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number (SIM) used during registration for the examination.

The 2026 UTME, which commenced on April 16, is scheduled to run until April 23. However, some candidates who wrote the examination on April 17 reportedly experienced difficulties accessing their results, with several complaining of repeated failed attempts.

JAMB had earlier assured that results for the April 17 batch would be released within 24 hours, but delays triggered frustration among candidates awaiting their scores.

In a statement on Sunday, Benjamin apologised for the delay, attributing it to the unavailability of the agency’s Chief Executive due to official engagements. He later confirmed that the results would be released later in the day.

He also thanked candidates for their patience and understanding.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,243,816 candidates registered for the 2026 CBT examination nationwide, marking a 10.5 per cent increase from the 2.03 million recorded in 2025.

Lagos State recorded the highest number of candidates with 381,814 registrations, followed by Ogun State, Oyo State, Kaduna State, and the Federal Capital Territory.

Outside Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire recorded the highest participation among foreign centres, followed by Equatorial Guinea, Burkina Faso, and the United Kingdom, while Gambia, Ghana, and South Africa recorded fewer than 10 candidates each.
