Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Nigeria has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth and development, citing confidence in the country’s economic prospects and its potential for sustainable business growth.

The company, which has operated in Nigeria for 18 years, said its continued presence reflects its commitment to the country, its people and the creation of long-term value for stakeholders.

JTI Nigeria General Manager, Abdallah Simba, restated the company’s position while reflecting on Nigeria’s development journey and its 66th Independence Anniversary.

Simba said Nigeria remained an important market for the company, adding that its continued operations demonstrated confidence in the country’s long-term economic outlook.

He said JTI’s business approach prioritised responsible corporate conduct, regulatory compliance, employee development and constructive engagement with stakeholders.

“Our commitment to Nigeria goes beyond our business operations. As Nigeria celebrates the important milestone of its 66th Independence, we recognise the importance of building a responsible and sustainable enterprise that contributes positively to the country’s development while creating long-term value for our employees, partners and stakeholders,” Simba said.

He added that the company’s operations were guided by corporate governance standards, ethical business practices and respect for the regulatory environment.

Simba also highlighted JTI Nigeria’s commitment to promoting an inclusive workplace through professional development, diversity, equal opportunities and mutual respect.

According to him, responsible corporate citizenship is essential to building sustainable businesses, particularly in highly regulated industries where compliance, transparency and accountability are critical.

He expressed confidence in Nigeria’s resilience and its capacity to create opportunities for sustainable business growth despite the evolving economic environment.

Simba reaffirmed the company’s commitment to maintaining a responsible business presence in Nigeria, strengthening stakeholder relationships and supporting the country’s long-term economic aspirations.
