Amid rising living expenses, MTN Nigeria has launched the Mega Billion Promo, a 90-day customer reward campaign aimed at offering moments of celebration and connection to subscribers nationwide. The initiative, which kicked off on June 23, has already rewarded more than 1,500 Nigerians with over ₦290 million in cash prizes.
The promo, running through MTN’s MoMo Payment Service Bank, will create 195 millionaires and distribute over ₦1 billion in total winnings. Prizes range from ₦25,000 to ₦5 million on weekdays, with a ₦10 million jackpot on Saturdays. Winners include three jackpot recipients, twenty people who have received ₦5 million each, and hundreds more with smaller cash rewards. All prizes are paid directly into customers’ MoMo wallets.
Participation is open to MTN subscribers aged 18 and above. Customers can join by dialing *900#, using the MyMTN app, or texting “MEGA” to 900. Every recharge of ₦100 or more earns points toward daily and Saturday draws, which are broadcast live on MTN’s social media platforms. Transparency is overseen by independent partners.
Chief Marketing Officer Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka said the promo is part of MTN’s commitment to supporting customers during challenging economic times. “In the last couple of years, it’s been a very tough time for Nigerians. As a company committed to making our customers’ lives better, we consistently look for ways to achieve this. The Mega Billion Promo is one of such initiatives,” she said during a July 19 media parley in Ikoyi.
Nigeria’s inflation stood at 24.48% in January before easing to 23.18% in February, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, with food, fuel, and transport costs rising sharply. Although telecom tariff adjustments have sparked debate, industry observers note that prices had remained unchanged for over a decade despite worsening economic conditions.
MTN says the Mega Billion Promo is designed to reward loyalty, boost customer engagement, and ensure that staying connected remains both valuable and rewarding, even in a challenging financial climate.
