MTN Nigeria has attained two major international certifications—ISO/IEC 20000 for IT Service Management Systems and ISO/IEC 38500:2024 for IT Governance Management Systems—reinforcing its commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality technology services.
The ISO/IEC 20000 certification, regarded as a global benchmark for excellence in IT service delivery and management, validates the company’s governance framework, operational discipline and focus on continuous service improvement. It also affirms MTN Nigeria’s ability to provide efficient, customer-centric IT services aligned with international best practices.
In addition, the company successfully passed the ISO/IEC 38500:2024 audit, becoming the first telecommunications operator in Nigeria and within the MTN Group to achieve the governance certification.
The ISO/IEC 38500:2024 standard covers the governance of IT-enabled services, systems and data management, ensuring alignment between technology use and corporate strategy. It also promotes accountability, ethical decision-making, leadership effectiveness and enhanced stakeholder engagement.
Commenting on the achievement, Acting Chief Information Officer, Bukola Ajayi, said the certifications reflect the company’s dedication to maintaining global standards in service delivery. She noted that the recognition highlights the expertise and resilience of MTN’s teams in delivering secure, reliable and responsibly governed IT services.
The certifications further strengthen MTN Nigeria’s position as a technology-driven organisation focused on resilience, efficiency and continuous improvement. They also align with the company’s broader strategy to build scalable digital infrastructure and drive innovation to support Nigeria’s digital transformation.
