MTN Foundation has partnered with UN Women to launch the Rural Women Economic Empowerment Partnership, an initiative aimed at supporting 200 women farmers across Kano and Cross River states.
The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both organisations as part of efforts to strengthen women’s economic participation and support sustainable livelihoods in rural communities.
Under the initiative, participating women will receive training, infrastructure support, market access and digital inclusion opportunities to help them develop sustainable agribusinesses.
The programme will focus on key agricultural value chains, including rice, cassava and seafood, with the aim of improving participants’ capacity to grow and manage viable businesses.
MTN Foundation said the partnership builds on its ongoing investment in women-owned businesses and is designed to create additional opportunities for women to expand their economic activities and contribute to community development.
The Foundation said the initiative reflects its commitment to supporting women with the skills, resources and opportunities needed to build sustainable livelihoods and create lasting economic impact in their communities.
