The Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, has emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors to ensure the sustainability of Nigeria’s art industry.
Musawa made the call during her visit to the +234 International Art Fair at the Ecobank Pan African Centre (EPAC) in Lagos, where she commended Ecobank Nigeria, the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), Soto Gallery, and other sponsors for supporting emerging artists. She assured that her ministry remains committed to fostering initiatives that promote artistic expression and cultural development.
Expressing her admiration for the diverse range of paintings, photography, and sculptures on display, the Minister reaffirmed the government’s support for young artists, highlighting their role in driving economic growth through creative industries.
“From what I’ve seen so far, this event beautifully reflects the richness of Nigeria’s emerging talent. It serves as a bridge to the future, drawing inspiration from the past achievements of our ancestors in the world of art. The +234 Art Fair is a powerful evolution of storytelling, filled with emotion. I am proud to see young Nigerian artists being given the opportunity to express themselves fully,” she stated.
Musawa further praised Ecobank and other organizers for providing a platform that nurtures artistic talent. “To ensure the long-term sustainability of the art industry, it is crucial to involve the government. I am honored to be here today for the second edition of this wonderful art fair,” she added.
The +234 International Art Fair continues to serve as a vital platform for showcasing Nigerian creativity, bridging tradition with contemporary artistic expression, and fostering economic opportunities for emerging artists.
