The Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership (NCSP) has marked the 2026 International Workers’ Day with a call for greater dignity in labour, enhanced collaboration, and shared prosperity.
In a statement commemorating the global event, the organisation celebrated the contributions of workers whose resilience, expertise, and dedication continue to drive economic transformation, innovation, and strengthened bilateral relations between Nigeria and China.
NCSP noted that this year’s observance goes beyond recognising labour, stressing that sustainable growth and long-term development depend largely on investments in people. It emphasised that empowering workers through access to opportunities, skills development, inclusion, and equitable systems remains critical to unlocking human potential and ensuring broad-based prosperity.
Director-General of NCSP, Joseph Tegbe, highlighted the central role of individuals in shaping the future of Nigeria–China relations. He stated that key milestones in the partnership are driven by people whose collaboration and commitment translate vision into measurable impact.
Tegbe further stressed the need for discussions on workers’ dignity to produce concrete outcomes, including improved access to innovation, capacity building, and enabling systems that support meaningful contributions to economic growth.
The organisation also disclosed that its ongoing strategic engagements have facilitated connections between Nigerian talent and Chinese expertise, helping to accelerate industrialisation and development. It revealed that investment commitments have been secured across critical sectors such as agriculture, automotive manufacturing, mining, steel production, and energy.
As the global workplace continues to evolve, NCSP reaffirmed its commitment to fostering partnerships that deepen bilateral cooperation while improving livelihoods, empowering communities, and promoting inclusive, people-centred growth.
