A Chess master named Tunde Onakoya will be attempting to break the Guinness World record for the longest Chess marathon by playing for 58 hours straight in the heart of Times Square, New York City, without losing a game.
He is doing this to fulfill the dreams of millions of children across Africa who do not have access to education. Tunde is the founder of Chess in Slums Africa and he uses chess as a tool to create a new generation of critical thinkers globally, which will lead to a pathway to prosperity in our lifetime. The marathon will be streamed live on YouTube for everyone to follow online.
Tunde is calling all Nigerians in New York to turn up massively to support the event. The goal is to raise $1 million while breaking the Guinness World Record. Chess is a low-cost, universally recognized game that builds the capacity for critical thought and connects people meaningfully.
Tunde is passionate about using chess as a simple gateway to provide children with an intellectual identity. He recently spoke to the Obama Fellows at Columbia University, and he is grateful for the invitation’.
Tunde believes that great thoughts speak only to the thoughtful mind, but great actions speak to all mankind. He wants to use chess to help children across the world realize their incredible talents.

Tunde has announced the early stages of distribution across Europe, with the goal of distributing 1 million chess sets globally by 2030, reaching every country in the world.
