OpenAI, the artificial intelligence startup behind ChatGPT, has surpassed $25 billion in annualised revenue as of the end of last month, according to a report by The Information citing a source familiar with the figure. The milestone represents a 17% increase from the $21.4 billion in annualised revenue the company recorded at the end of 2025.
The company is accelerating its push into the enterprise market, partnering with four of the world’s largest consulting firms to help corporate clients move beyond pilot projects toward full-scale AI deployments. This strategy positions OpenAI in competition with rivals such as Anthropic and major tech players including Google, all targeting enterprise AI adoption.
Since late 2022, OpenAI’s revenue has skyrocketed from nearly zero to more than $20 billion in 2025, while Anthropic has grown to approximately $9 billion in annualised revenue over the same period.
Looking ahead, OpenAI aims to tap into roughly $600 billion in compute spending through 2030 as it lays the groundwork for a potential initial public offering (IPO) that could value the company at up to $1 trillion.
