Victor Osimhen has secured his first Turkish Super Lig award shortly after joining Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli. The Nigerian international’s stunning goal against Kasımpaşa has been voted the Goal of the Week by beIN SPORTS, garnering an impressive 77.96% of the total votes.
Osimhen made an immediate impact by scoring his first goal and following it up with a brace; however, his efforts were not enough to secure all three points for Galatasaray, who relinquished a three-goal lead to draw with the visitors.
The 25-year-old displayed remarkable skill when he volleyed home with his left foot after receiving a pass from former Napoli teammate Dries Mertens, giving Galatasaray a 2-0 advantage.
Despite missing pre-season due to transfer complications, Osimhen has quickly established himself as a vital player for Galatasaray, contributing to scoring or assisting in all four of his appearances. He has recorded two goals and four assists in his short time with the club.
Currently, Osimhen is sidelined with an injury sustained during the league match, missing the Europa League clash against RFS in Latvia. However, the injury is not severe, and he is expected to return soon, potentially in time for Galatasaray’s Super Lig match against Alanyaspor this weekend.
Osimhen has credited Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk as a crucial factor in his transfer decision, stating, “Okan Buruk is the key to my transfer. I was incredibly impressed when I spoke to him.”
The initial loan agreement keeps Osimhen at Galatasaray for four months, but his strong performances have sparked speculation about a possible extension. Meanwhile, reports indicate that Chelsea is keen on acquiring him, with the club reportedly prepared to offer €90 million in the January transfer window.
