The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, has commended the leadership and ongoing projects of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) during a working visit to the agency.

The visit formed part of the commissioner’s routine engagements with agencies under the Ministry of Transportation to assess operations and obtain firsthand updates on project implementation. He was received by the Managing Director of LAMATA, Engr. (Mrs.) Abimbola Akinajo, and members of the management team.

Engr. Akinajo praised the commissioner for initiating direct engagements with agencies under the ministry, describing the approach as strategic and beneficial for aligning policy direction with operational realities.

During the visit, Mr. Osiyemi was briefed on the progress of key transportation projects, including the Quality Bus Corridor (QBC), Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) operations, Blue Line Rail Phase 2, the Green Line Rail project, and the Red Line Rail Phase 2, which is expected to integrate with the Blue Line at the National Theatre.

Expressing satisfaction with the agency’s performance, the commissioner emphasised the need for strong synergy between the ministry and its agencies to achieve Lagos State’s transportation objectives. He praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his leadership and commended the LAMATA management for its clear vision and commitment to service delivery.

“We are blessed to have an organisation with such vision. The reward for good work is more work,” Osiyemi said, pledging his continued support to the management and staff of the agency.

The commissioner was accompanied by the Director of Legal, Mr. Claudius Togbeola; the Director of Transport Operations, Engr. Olasunkanmi Ojowuro; and the Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Bola Ogunlola.
