The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, has called on Muslims across Nigeria to pray for peace, unity, and national progress as they commence the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement on Saturday, Obi emphasized the significance of the season, urging Muslims to embrace brotherly love, fasting, and devotion to God. His message followed the official sighting of the moon and the pronouncement of the Sultan, marking the beginning of Ramadan.
“As the Holy Month of Ramadan begins, I urge our Muslim brethren to embody the spirit of the season—brotherly love, fasting, and devotion to God,” Obi stated. “Let us use this solemn period to offer sincere prayers for our dear nation—that our leaders prioritize the people’s welfare, that unity and peace prevail, and that insecurity and economic hardship are alleviated.”
The former Anambra State governor also underscored the importance of charity and almsgiving, encouraging Muslims to extend support to the sick and less privileged, in line with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Acknowledging Nigeria’s economic challenges, Obi stressed the need for solidarity and mutual support, particularly during Ramadan.
“As I continue my nationwide engagements, I wish everyone a blessed and fruitful Ramadan. May Allah accept our prayers and shower us with His blessings. Ramadan Mubarak!” he concluded.
