US President Donald Trump has issued broad pardons to more than 70 allies accused of attempting to undermine the 2020 presidential election, the administration’s pardon attorney Ed Martin confirmed on Sunday.
Martin shared the list on X, naming high-profile figures including Trump’s former lawyers Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, as well as his ex-chief of staff Mark Meadows, all of whom received “full, complete and unconditional” pardons.
The pardoned individuals were reportedly involved in efforts to alter slates of electors in key battleground states, including Arizona, Georgia, and Michigan, all of which were won by President Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
These actions were linked to the events that culminated in the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol by a pro-Trump mob.
While none of those listed have faced federal charges, the pardons could block future administrations from prosecuting them for their alleged roles in the scheme.
