……As Church Wardens mark 50th anniversary with symposium
The Chairman / National Leader of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church ( Surulere District ), AYO NO O, Senior Special Apostle Prophet Sunday Funsho Korode identified leadership as part of the contributing factors to the myriad of challenges facing Nigeria.
The church leader said for the country to get off its many woes and attain the ideal leadership it deserves, it must consider persons with certain attributes conducive to achieving peace and growth.
Korode listed the attributes to include : Intellect, temperament, integrity, sound physical and mental health and most significantly, the fear of God.
Speaking at briefing heralding the Second National Symposium of the Church Wardens entitled : ” The State, The Society and The Church “. scheduled for Saturday May7, 2022, he described the programme with the Theme : ” Beacon of Hope For A New Nigeria “. as a national discourse that would contribute to the emergence of a better country where its citizens would benefit maximally from the abundant human and material resources the country is divinely endowed with.
Korode said the national discourse could not have come at a better time than now, considering the many challenges it is faced with coupled with the tension and anxiety associated with the forthcoming national election.
He listed speakers who have been invited and have given their commitment to attend the symposium to include : Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo , who would be the Keynote Speaker; with presentation on the State, by Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola.
The Chief of Air Staff, Nigeria Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Isiaka Oladapo Amao , Korode said would give a presentation on The Society; while the Special Apostle Pastor Femi Soyemi , Shepherd , Disciples of Christ Ministry , C&S Movement Church , (Surulere District), AYO NI O , would give a presentation on The Church.
According to Korede, the Governor of Lagos State, Babajde Sanwo Olu will give special remarks with Mrs Khadijah Okunnu – Lamidi , a 2023 Presidential Aspirant serving as panelist.
Other panelists include : Ms. Ibijoke Faborode, who is Founder / Chief Executive Officer ElectHER as well as Mr . Olusegun Onigbinde, who is a Global Director, BudgIT.
Speaking further on the symposium, Korede said : ” The Church , as a religious not for profit organization , is an integral part of the society . It cannot afford to be a passive participant in any community or society it finds itself. In fact, the church by its divine mandate is a capacity builder, whose main purpose is to ensure that its members are heavenly kingdom candidates. This implies that the church must strive to raise disciplined , law abiding and morally upright citizens.
” The church definitely has a role to play in the growth and development of our nation. The despair in the nation is almost palpable. The structures of state seem grossly inadequate, ill- equipped and ill- prepared to tackle these challenges.
” And society has been the worst for this ineptitude. There is an urgent need to reverse the trend . We cannot afford to be stagnant , while other economies are rapidly developing their societies. The percentage of our youth and young adults migrating or seeking to migrate to other countries is staggering . We need to be creative to address this and other challenges.”
