Russian strikes claimed the lives of eight civilians across Ukraine, regional authorities reported on Friday, more than two and a half years since the invasion began.
In the northeastern Sumy region, two civilians were killed, according to the national police. Further east, in the Kharkiv region, which borders Russia, two more civilians died in an attack, regional governor Oleg Synegubov confirmed. Synegubov also noted that rescuers recovered a body from the rubble of an earlier strike.
In the Donetsk region, governor Vadym Filashkin reported another civilian death due to ongoing attacks. Despite facing a Ukrainian counteroffensive in its own Kursk border region, Moscow has continued its offensive in Donetsk.
Ukraine is evacuating civilians from the city of Pokrovsk and nearby areas, approximately 10 kilometers (six miles) from active conflict zones, where around 50,000 residents remain.
In the southern city of Kherson, liberated in autumn 2022 but still within range of Russian weapons, two people were killed and five others wounded, according to governor Oleksandr Prokudin.
