Cristiano Ronaldo has been named in Portugal’s squad for next month’s UEFA Nations League matches against Croatia and Scotland, despite a subdued performance at Euro 2024. The 39-year-old, who failed to score during the tournament as Portugal bowed out in the quarter-finals, continues to enjoy the confidence of coach Roberto Martinez.
Ronaldo, appearing in his record sixth European Championship, faced criticism for his ineffective display, but he remains determined to contribute to the national team. “When I quit the national team, I won’t tell anyone in advance… At the moment, what I want is to be able to help the Selecao,” Ronaldo said in a recent interview with Portuguese television.
Ronaldo has made a strong start to the new season, scoring four goals in as many games for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr. With Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos sidelined by an ankle injury, Ronaldo is expected to continue leading Portugal’s attack.
