Governor Yahaya Bello Blames APC for PDP Crisis, Pledges Party Unity

Bauchi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, on Wednesday attributed the ongoing crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the machinations of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking at the Government House in Bauchi during a meeting with members of the PDP Board of Trustees, Bello emphasized that the challenges facing the party are surmountable with divine intervention.

“Any challenge is not insurmountable. By the grace of God, we will find a solution to that,” Bello said. He stressed that the PDP, with its wealth of governance experience, is being deliberately targeted by the opposition. “This is the creation of the other side. They want us to be in disarray. It is the creation of APC. They always want moles within us, seeking knowledge of what is happening.”

Bello pointed to the role of Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Rivers State governor, who was appointed by the APC despite his strong ties to the PDP. He described Wike’s performance as exemplary, highlighting how his appointment reflects the APC’s reliance on PDP talent.

“Even the Wike that is in APC is in PDP, and he is performing very well. They don’t have people who can perform like our members, which is why they chose him and gave him a state-like structure to run,” Bello added. “To us, it is a commendation. The press can see that despite the bizarre situation, it is a recognition that the PDP has the human capital to deliver for Nigeria.”

Governor Bello acknowledged the challenges posed by Wike’s dual affiliation but reiterated that the PDP has a plan to overcome its internal struggles and unify ahead of the 2027 elections. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to restoring effective governance and taking back leadership from the APC.

“Our focus is on unifying the PDP and positioning ourselves for 2027,” Bello concluded, expressing optimism about the party’s future despite the current hurdles.
