BREAKING: APGA Sweeps Anambra Local Government Elections, Wins All Seats

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) emerged victorious in the September 28, 2024, local government elections in Anambra State, securing all chairmanship and councillorship positions across the state’s 21 local government areas and 326 wards.

In a press briefing on Sunday, the Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), Genevieve Osakwe, announced that APGA won all 21 chairmanship seats and cleared the 326 councillorship positions at the ward level. Osakwe described the election as one of the fairest ever conducted, highlighting the commission’s efforts to ensure the results were meticulously collated and analyzed for accuracy.

Osakwe provided detailed results, declaring the APGA candidates as winners based on the highest number of votes cast. She commended the citizens of Anambra for their strong voter turnout and thanked security agencies for maintaining peace and order throughout the election process.

“The commission carefully collated and analyzed the results to ensure there were no mistakes,” Osakwe stated. “We ensured all scores and parties were announced at the polling units yesterday. We are here today to affirm the results as recorded. The election held across Anambra State on September 28 was free, fair, and credible.”

Despite the overwhelming APGA victory, no representatives from opposition political parties were present at the ANSIEC office when the results were declared, aside from APGA officials and party agents.
