In a bid to alleviate the economic challenges facing his constituents, the Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State, Dele Oshinowo, has distributed N50 million to 1,000 residents through MTN’s MoMo account.

The disbursement was further boosted by a N5 million donation from the Senator representing Lagos East, Adetokunbo Abiru, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 1,110. Each beneficiary received N50,000 during the event held at Tomroyal Multipurpose Hall in Alapere, Lagos.

The initiative, carried out under the council’s “We Lift Community Empowerment Initiative,” was organized in collaboration with MTN’s mobile money platform, MoMo. Chairman Oshinowo emphasized that the gesture reflects his commitment to the welfare of his constituents, urging beneficiaries to use the funds wisely.

“In this year alone, we have disbursed N75 million through various We Lift initiatives. Today, we are extending that commitment by disbursing an additional N50 million through the WeLift1000 program, benefiting 1,000 vulnerable residents across Agboyi-Ketu LCDA,” Oshinowo stated.

He added that the process of selecting beneficiaries was thorough, involving key community organizations such as the Community Development Associations, Christian Association of Nigeria, artisans’ unions, and market leaders to ensure the aid reached those most in need.

Senator Abiru, who attended as a guest, commended Oshinowo’s performance and highlighted the importance of addressing the welfare of constituents amidst current economic challenges.

“I urge other public office holders to show empathy and concern for the plight of our people, as exemplified by the Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA today,” Abiru said, while expressing hope that economic relief will come under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.
