Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State presented the 2025 appropriation bill to the State House of Assembly on Wednesday, proposing a budget of ₦678.09 billion with a focus on infrastructure development and education. Addressing lawmakers in Agodi, Ibadan, the governor disclosed that 51% of the budget is allocated for capital expenditure, while 49% will cover recurrent expenses.
Infrastructure leads with an allocation of ₦152.27 billion, or 22.46% of the total budget. Governor Makinde emphasized that the budget, termed the “Budget of Economic Stabilisation,” reflects input gathered from residents during statewide consultative forums.
The governor also highlighted recent developments, including the release of ₦2 billion to expedite the 48-kilometer Ido-Ibarapa Road project, underscoring his administration’s commitment to road rehabilitation across the state.
Other key allocations include ₦59.4 billion for health and ₦18.76 billion for agriculture, representing 9% and 3% of the total budget, respectively. Governor Makinde expressed confidence that the 2025 budget would build on the economic recovery achieved through the 2024 budget, supporting Oyo State’s roadmap for sustainable development and enhancing the lives of all residents.
