FirstBank, a leading financial institution in West Africa, is set to host the inaugural China-Africa Interbank Association (CAIBA) Forum on November 27, 2024, at the Fraser Suites, Abuja. The event aims to deepen economic ties, foster financial cooperation, and promote industrialization and trade between China and Africa.
With the theme “Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Strengthening China-Africa Trade, Industrialization, and Economic Diversification,” the forum represents a significant step in enhancing China-Africa partnerships. Established in 2018, CAIBA comprises 16 African banks, including FirstBank, China Development Bank (CDB), ABSA Bank, Ecobank, United Bank for Africa, and others. The association addresses critical funding gaps in Africa’s industrialization and infrastructure development while driving poverty alleviation initiatives.
Traditionally hosted in Beijing, this year’s forum in Nigeria underscores the country’s pivotal role in the growing economic relationship between China and Africa. It will provide a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and deal-making among member banks and stakeholders.
