With 2024 almost certain to be the hottest year on record, climate disasters left scars across continents, from Europe’s plains to Nepal’s Kathmandu Valley. Yet, there is cautious optimism as electric vehicle sales surge and renewable energy gains traction.

In Sydney, dubbed the “New Year’s capital of the world,” crowds thronged the iconic Harbour to witness nine tonnes of fireworks burst over the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
