IGP Condemns Deadly Explosion at Nganzai Police HQ, Borno

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has condemned the deadly explosion attack on the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State. The attack, which occurred on January 9, 2025, at approximately 12:10 a.m., claimed the lives of two officers, Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat.

In a statement, the IGP expressed his deep condolences to the families of the fallen officers, assuring them that their sacrifices in the line of duty would not be forgotten. He pledged that all benefits and entitlements due to the officers would be immediately processed and delivered to their families.

IGP Egbetokun has ordered an immediate and thorough clampdown on the perpetrators, vowing that those responsible for the heinous act would face justice. “No cop-killer will go unpunished,” he stated firmly.

To expedite the pursuit of justice, the IGP directed the Zone 15 Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, fdc, to mobilize resources and personnel and collaborate with other security agencies to track down the attackers.

The Nigeria Police Force reassures the public of its commitment to maintaining security and ensuring that those who threaten peace and safety in the country are held accountable. Investigations into the attack are ongoing, and efforts to restore security in the affected area have been intensified.
