A petitioner, Mr. Uche David Esomonu, has expressed frustration over the apparent lack of progress in the forgery case against former House of Representatives member, Hon. Rita Odichinma Orji.
Orji, who represented Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency from 2015 to 2019, was arrested by the police on Sunday, November 24, 2024, over allegations that she used a forged West African Examinations Council (WAEC) certificate during her tenure.
Following her arrest, Orji reportedly provided a statement to the authorities. However, Esomonu claims that no further action has been taken, accusing the police of failing to pursue the case despite what he describes as “overwhelming evidence.”
Esomonu is calling on law enforcement to revisit the case and ensure justice is served. “The Nigerian Police must restore their integrity by bringing out the case file,” he stated, vowing to continue his pursuit of justice until action is taken.
The police are yet to respond to these allegations.
