Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has condemned Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, for blocking a moving aircraft at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Thursday blacklisted the singer for six months following the incident, which occurred on Tuesday and involved a ValueJet flight.
Keyamo said the action was “totally unacceptable” and directed that Ayinde be placed on a no-fly list pending a full investigation. “All airlines, both domestic and international, should be informed. Anyone who flouts this directive risks losing their operating license,” he said.
According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Ayinde was stopped from boarding a Lagos-bound flight for carrying a flask containing alcohol, which he allegedly spilled on a staff member before moving onto the tarmac to block the aircraft from taxiing.
Two ValueJet pilots were also suspended by the NCAA for unsafe conduct during the incident. Keyamo insisted that both crew and passenger misconduct must be sanctioned.
Ayinde, a prominent figure in Yoruba Fuji music and a supporter of President Bola Tinubu, has performed at multiple All Progressives Congress (APC) events nationwide.
